May - Dementia Awareness Week
The Dementia Event was held at Warnham on Sunday, and the sun was shining! Our lovely Sally Prince was a volunteer and here she is, wearing her WI badge and displaying the amazing forget-me-not badges our ‘crafty ladies’ made.
It was a great afternoon and so far over £150 was raised by the sale of badges last week. We also donated 120 scones to support the cream tea event.

Thank for all of your tins and Easter egg donations at our Annual Meeting.
December - Turning Tides
Turning Tides, the homeless charity, was very grateful to receive our donation of 55 individual, beautifully decorated Christmas cakes. The cakes were made by our very own Mel Moore.
Sally Prince and Karen Jordan had chance for an update on the amazing work the charity is doing, and the plans they have.

What an amazing visit to the Turning Tides homeless hub site in Roffey in November. We delivered a table full of goodies and had a tour of the property by Nichola Brotherton and heard about the plans they had. What a fantastic facility it will be. Staff from Southern Water were volunteering today and swooped onto the treats and were so appreciative. On a wet day like today a piece of cake and a sandwich lifts the spirit.
This ground breaking local facility, Roffey Place, will include 24-hour onsite support, including mental health and counselling, medical help via a clinical room, substance misuse specialists, a wellbeing and sensory suite, digital inclusion, help with training, employment and managing finances, a commercial kitchen to learn cooking skills, carpentry, craft and furniture renovation workspaces, outdoor therapy spaces, gardening skills, an allotment, beehives, yoga, mindfulness and more. Residents are anticipated to stay for approximately 6-9 months and then move on to independent living or a lower support service.
Horsham Foodbank don't think anyone in our community should have to face going hungry. They run a network of Trussell Trust foodbanks across the district.

Smalls for All® is a Scottish charity which collects and distributes underwear to help adults and children in Africa and the UK.
In Africa, they help those living in orphanages, slums, IDP (internally displaced persons) camps and schools, as well as those in hospitals suffering from medical conditions like obstetric fistula. While people living in western society tend to have easy access to underwear and take it for granted, in many more remote or poorer parts of Africa, that’s far from the case. Underwear is a luxury that isn’t easily available and, if it is, many people just can’t afford. Giving pants and bras may seem like a small thing, but it can make a life-changing difference. For example, having pants can help teenage girls complete their education without having to miss school each month during their period. |
